It took little warming up just like the first french crape on our frying pen. But I knew I had to be patient, and follow all the instructions seen on the DVD that came with the product. Even though silent, ti is worth to watch it to understand two different levels of water in this cappuccino maker - higher level for latte, lower level for cappuccino. Please don't be discouraged if the maker leaks little bit at the beginning. In my experience with my cappuccino maker, I may have made a mistake by using the energy saver plate on my gas stove. I tried without the energy saver, about two thirds of cappuccino's diameter gas flame underneath it, and I began to see consistency in successful cappuccino's from then on. The best milk to use is whole milk, it would make a thicker foam. The second good milk is 2% milk or even 2% goat milk is good, however whole goat milk, almond or coconut milks are too thick and they would not foam but they could be used for latte. It is good to leave the maker on the burner for thirty seconds for a hotter milk, however waiting too long will cause the foam to expire. Pour the mixture of coffee and the foam into the cups sprinkle with cinnamon, finely ground dark chocolate if you like, and viola - enjoy your cappuccino.Note: If for any reason your cappuccino needs a part replacement (available on Amazon at this time or directly fromthe manufacturer or seller), and you want to enjoy cappuccino while ordering and waiting for the shipment, you can simply use warm milks of any kind in the mixing bowl, and use a Kuhn Rikon whisk (that is at least the one I am using) that we use for mixing sauces. It makes a thick foam in a matter of seconds, regardless of type of milk you decide to use, even the rich goat milk, thicker almond or coconut milk, and the best yet, the foam lasts a long time.
