This carafe meets my criteria ... it is functional, beautiful and reasonably priced. I wanted something a bit more unusual than the run-of-the-mill stainless steel thermos, or white melamine. I would like a black one and a red one, too. Maybe lavender ... I bought it before the first reviewer posted, had I read that comment I might have paused to rethink my buying decision. Maybe that thermos had a defect? Or it was a really cold day in Portland? On cold mornings I pre-heat the thermos so the heat of the freshly brewed coffee will not diminish. My house guests have all commented on the beautiful color ..and it pours nicely, no drips. It's really pretty!

at first i thought this was a well designed product. i used it for about 6 months. then, about 20 minutes after filling it with my morning hot chocolate, i heard a muffled explosion from the next room. i did not know what had caused this until i went to pour my second cup. the glass liner was in a thousand pieces. well designed or not, this is a dangerous product.
