The best 4 cup carafe I have used, Universal Carafe, is no longer available on Amazon and the Mr. Coffee replacement carafe's lid breaks very easily.The nice thing about this carafe is that comes with two adapters to adjust the height of the lid and the price is reasonable. But the spout is badly designed, is small with no downward slant, so the coffee dribbles when you pour. You have to pour slowly and keep a paper towel underneath.Even the stainless steel Medelco carafe has the same problem. You'd think somebody in the company would pour coffee from the decanter before putting it up for sale. Guess not. The dribbling is really messy and inconvenient.

We have a small coffee maker that we rarely use (we don't drink coffee, so I only use it when we have guests). In one of these times, the carafe broke and all I heard was to buy a new coffee maker because I wouldn't find a carafe to fit. I didn't want to buy a whole new coffee maker since the one I have works well and never gets used, so searching for a replacement carafe I found this Medelco 4 Cup Universal Replacement Carafe and I'm happy to say it fits perfectly and our coffee maker is working well again (I have an old Krups CaféExpress). Note: it comes with two types of lid, the one in the picture (flat with a hole in the middle) and another one with a small cone that touches the bottom of the filter, which is what we need on ours.

I broke my carafe, but the coffee maker works just fine and I could not find a replacement maker that looked comparable. Either too bare bones or too fancy. This carafe allows me to use the coffee maker again, which is all I want. The carafe is well made, seem like sturdier glass than the original. Works perfectly fine. Others mentioned it dribbles down the side when pouring - well, show me one that doesn't. The way these things are made they all do that to some extent or other - even fancy name-brand ones that come with the coffee makers. You just have to pour slower. However, this carafe has a thumb tab on the lid hinge so you can flip it up slightly and NO DRIPS. Not all of them have this. My old one didn't. I'm happy.
